The Xia Family

Post by you're not my supervisor on Wed Jun 12, 2013 12:44 pm

This is based on that conversation we had about if Fuse adopted a bunch of kids, and if we were a family.

Chapter-o Uno

Elder opened the door to Fuse's apartment. The sounds of giggling, yelling, squealing, and "No! Don't light that on fire!" came from within. Elder ventured inside, wary that something seemed to be very, very, off here. Max followed close behind.

"What's he gone and done now?" Elder muttered.

Max shrugged. "Whatever this is, it cannot end well," she replied.

The two girls ventured into the main area of the apartment and saw Fuse surrounded by several small children.

"Hi." he said, waving tiredly.

"AWESOME!" Max exclaimed, seeing the kids. "Little kids are so cute!"

"Are you running a daycare or something now?" Elder asked. "You know nothing about kids!"

"Uh, actually," Fuse replied, "I kinda adopted them."

"You WHAT?"

"In my defense, two of them aren't actually mine! Furby lives across the hall, and Ashton belongs downstairs. He thinks he lives here, though, and it's not pretty when his parents try to take him home..."

"You need help."

This was followed by a loud crash.

"I'll clean it up!" Max yelled. Then, "Aw, why do I have to be it? I don't even like tag!"

Elder turned back to Fuse. "Ever thought about getting a babysitter or two?"

"Yeah, I should probably do that. Lizzard used the phone book as a coloring book, though."

"How would that even- nevermind. I know a couple of girls who could help you out, though."

"THANK. YOU. I haven't slept all week."

"It's Tuesday."

"Right. It feels like it's been a week."

"I'll put the babysitters' phone numbers on the fridge." She looked at the clock on the microwave. "MAX! YOU'RE GONNA BE LATE FOR WORK!"

"Oh! Thanks!" Max grabbed her hat off of the table as she ran for the door. "I'll be back later! The library calls!"

"Did you say 'the library'?" Fuse asked as Max's hand was on the doorknob.

"Yeeees. Why?"

He picked up one of the kids and held him out to her. "Please, please take one of them with you!"

"Okay, fine." She held her arms out. "C'mere, uh,"

"Dream!" the boy said, grabbing onto Max's shoulder.

"Aw, that's an adorable name! I'll see you later, Fuse. Bye Elder!"

Max walked out of the apartment carrying Dream. Fuse sighed as one of the kids ran down the hallway, dragging a marker along the wall.

Thanks! Now, please pardon the ignorance, but what does 'campy' mean? I've heard it, but I dunno what it means.

That wasn't helpful. But the chapter is complete now.

Aww, Dream! So cute.

Elder probably works from home through a computer, but has a super-successful sibling (alliteration! Razz) who gives her money. A crapload of it. Frequently.

Chapter Deux

With Max and Dream gone, there was one fewer kid to look after, but also one less adult to help keep the kids from duct-taping each other to the ceiling. To make matters worse, Elder had forgotten her laptop and was behind on work.

"I'll be back as soon as I can, Fuse!" she said. "Call a babysitter!"

"Can you hand me a phone?" he asked, kids clinging to him as if he were their favorite stuffed animal. "I can't exactly walk right now."

"Aww, you're like Mt. Little Kids!"

The little boy that had been drawing on the wall came up to Elder and tugged on her pants. "I gotta go potty. Can you take me potty?"

Elder shot a dirty look at Fuse before steering the boy towards the bathroom.

"What? I'm a human jungle gym right now!" Fuse said defensively. "No Lizzard! My head is OFF-LIMITS."

The little girl pouted, but climbed down and sat at the coffee table, where she began drawing with some crayons that had been left sitting out.

"Okay, NOW I'm leaving." Elder said, coming back. "I'll be back soon."

She left, leaving Fuse on his own with the kids.

"Can we watch Shake It Up?" One of the boys asked.

"Z LOVE!" Another one yelled, climbing into an armchair.

***

There was a loud banging on the front door. Lizzard opened it, looking up at the guy standing on the other side.

"This is where Fuse lives, right?" he asked quickly. Lizzard nodded.

"Oh, good! Move, squirt!" He pushed past Liz and flopped onto the couch. "If anyone asks, I was here last night from ten to eleven-thirty," he paused to look at the TV, "Good lord, you're letting them watch this crap?"

"Hi Travis," Fuse said, moving Travis' feet off the couch and sitting down beside him.

Just then, the door began to open. Travis practically jumped over the back of the couch. "HIDE ME."

Elder stood there in the doorway, her computer bag slung over one shoulder, arms crossed and eyes narrowed in disapproval. "Nice to see you, too."
